Safety DOT Compliance Specialist

Job Description:

Development and administration of DOT/NON-DOT Compliance Program to include medical exams, drug testing, licensing, and driver qualification files, and verification of employment. Responsible for maintaining accident/incident files: including but not limited to creating files, updating electronic files, tracking information regarding cost and cause of accident/incident, maintain accident register DOT per FMCSA and Non-DOT. Investigate vehicle accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, implement preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities. Track information to ensure documents such as Medical Cards and Drivers Licenses are up to date and accurate.  Monitor hours of service of all drivers per FMCSA and DOT. Manage all claims and investigate incidents, analyzing viability and risk and providing solutions to minimize exposure.  Maintains compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and reporting requirements.  Coordinate employee safety programs to determine their adequacy including review of short and long term strategic safety planning and development Reviews injury/illness and non-injury incident reports, investigates, and follows up as necessary.  Reviews safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards to ensure safety regulation compliance.


High School Diploma or GED required; some college or specialized training preferred; advanced knowledge of OSHA standards and DOT/FMCSA regulations as they apply to driver and vehicle qualifications; Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook); Excellent written and verbal communications skills; Self-motivated and self-disciplined. Able to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize workload and self-manage projects, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines   detail-oriented problem solver with intuitive decision-making skills.  

Work Environment:  This position operates primarily in a professional office environment. Ability to work in both office and field environment, some travel required.
